The Problem with Diets

Over the past 30 years, there has been a lot of conflicting information about what we should and shouldn’t be eating for weight loss and optimum health. In that same time frame, obesity rates have skyrocketed. Most fad diets are unsustainable long-term because they have focused on restricting or eliminating certain food groups such as fats or carbohydrates. While they may achieve fast weight loss in the short-term, more often than not people will end up re-gaining the lost weight or give up on their weight loss goals altogether.

This is because most weight loss diets help lose weight fast in the form of water weight and muscle mass. Muscle is the most metabolically active tissue in the body, meaning the more muscle you have the more calories you are burning. Losing muscle means you are burning fewer calories and slowing your metabolism down. A slower metabolism will make losing weight difficult and sustaining weight loss nearly impossible.

How Curves’ Nutrition Program is Different

For the past 20 years, Dr. Kreider at Texas A&M University has been studying the Curves Nutrition Program. His research found that healthy eating, the right combination of protein, carbohydrates and fats, combined with a complete women’s exercise program such as Curves, protects muscle mass and ensures that up to 95% of the weight loss is in the form of fat.

The Curves Nutrition Program is a three phase weight loss program for women that will help build healthy eating and exercise habits for life. Throughout this, you will also learn about the importance each macronutrient plays on your health, the importance of vitamins and minerals as well as reading food labels.

This weight loss program is self-paced and can be done from the comfort of your own home. Then, once a week you will meet with your Curves Coach, online or in-club, to review what you have learned and help answer any questions you have. Your coach will become a trusted, valuable partner in helping you develop healthy habits.

Curves Nutrition Program is a healthy, balanced, and sustainable weight loss program with an exit strategy. The Curves Nutrition Program, alongside regular strength training with the Curves workout, is designed to decrease body fat, increase lean muscle mass, and improve metabolism. Curves three phase approach to weight loss will help build healthy eating and exercise habits for life.

The Curves Nutrition Program is divided into three phases.

  • Phase 1 will help jumpstart your weight loss. (1200 calories per day)
  • Phase 2 is where a majority of your weight loss will occur (1500 calories per day)
  • Phase 3 is what makes the Curves Nutrition & Weight Management program different from other weight loss plans. Phase 3 is focused on increasing your metabolism to help your body burn more calories and maintain your weight loss.

Most people will spend one week on Phase 1. Approximately three weeks on Phase 2. And about four weeks on Phase 3 to allow for metabolic recovery before completing another cycle. This cycle ensures that you increase your metabolism to achieve the greatest results. However, weight loss is different for each person. Your certified Curves Coach will help you determine how long to remain on each phase and how many cycles you may need to reach your goals.

Our program is customisable to fit a variety of specialised dietary needs. All of our recipes are easily adapted by exchanging the protein or allergens using our extensive Food Values List. Talk to your Curves Coach about your dietary requirements 

Our recipes are delicious and nutritious meals that the entire family can enjoy! Each weight loss recipe is written for one serving. So, if you have a family of 4, you can simply multiply the ingredients by 4. For recipes on Phase 1 and 2, you might want to add an additional side dish for everyone else.

Our specially designed weight loss plan for women has a three phase approach to provide effective and sustainable long-term weight loss results. Phase 3 focuses on boosting your metabolism back to normal levels while still maintaining your weight loss with an exit strategy – setting healthier eating habits for life.

Our certified Curves Coaches provide you with the ongoing support and motivation you need to achieve your weight loss goals. In weekly check ins (either in-person or virtually), your coach help track your progress and provide support across your learnings. Your coach will become a trusted ally in your weight loss journey to encourage you and keep you accountable.
