Stay Motivated for Summer Workouts
Keeping up with your workout routine during those hot summer days can be a challenge, especially if you live a busy lifestyle and are spending most of your day trying to stay cool! You will need to take steps to make sure you are sticking with a schedule of challenging and motivating workouts. Making healthy food choices and prioritizing fitness activities during the summer can help you maintain a fit and healthy body all season long.
Use these tips to stay motivated for those summer workouts:
Be consistent
Plan on working out on consistent days and times. Consistency will get you results. Take different types of strength training classes throughout the week to challenge different muscle groups. Try a Curves specialty fitness class‡ in addition to the regular circuit.
Get new workout gear
If you’re still wearing the same workout pants, tees, and tops from the winter months, change things up with some new workout gear! Dress for the occasion in lightweight clothing such as shorts, capris, tanks, and tees. Brighten up your workout wardrobe with vibrant colors, eye-catching prints, and new styles that flatter your figure. You’ll feel better in your own skin when you’re wearing clothes that you feel good in and can motivate yourself to work just a little harder.
Find a workout partner
Grab a friend, coworker or neighbor to join you at a Curves class‡ or just head to the club together for a 30 minute circuit routine. Working out with a friend can help you stay motivated and encourage you to stick with your routine. You can set workout goals together, and motivate each other to push a little harder at each workout. Schedule these workout “dates” week after week so that you can keep up with your summertime fitness routine.
Don’t compromise on nutrition
Staying hydrated and eating healthy meals throughout the day will give you the energy you need to power through those workouts — even on the laziest of those summer days. Get into the habit of drinking more water throughout the day so you don’t hit periods of fatigue right before a workout. Have a healthy pre-workout meal so you have plenty of energy to get through your workout.
