Get Strong with Curves Boxing Class
You’ll be a real knockout with several of these workouts under your belt. The Curves Boxing Class† tones your body from head to foot, and the intensity of this class raises the heat on calorie-burn for a trimmer you.
The new class adds intensity and follows a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) format. HIIT recruits both type 1 and type 2 (slow- and fast-twitch) muscle, which strengthens muscle more efficiently and burns more calories than a workout performed at a steady intensity. Check it out.
Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee
Not only will this class help you tone and trim your body, it will improve your balance. Boxing requires you to engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously and works your core. A strong core is key to keeping you upright.
Then there are the moves themselves, which challenge your balance and agility, like the side kick 30/30, in which you will bend one leg and then kick it forward while using your other leg—and core muscles–to steady your body. For other moves, you’ll throw jabs, upper cuts, and all sorts of kicks, and you’ll learn to duck and weave. All these moves are valuable self-defense moves and they’re a lot of fun to learn!
Head into the Ring (the Circuit)!
The class follows the traditional Curves circuit format. You’ll spend 30 seconds on each strength machine and in between you’ll box for 30 seconds. After you complete two rounds, you’ll stretch to cool down.
The moves can be modified for most fitness levels says Karass, but she recommends that if you are new to Curves or to exercise, you should consult with your Curves Coach before trying the Boxing Class.‡ Also, consult with a physician if you have a medical condition such as heart disease or type 2 diabetes before starting a high intensity exercise routine.
You’ll be a Winner
Strong, toned, slender, and prepared to take on someone who tries to mess with you, you’ll be walking tall and confident and feeling like a champ, because you are number one.
