3 Strategies for a Fabulously Fit Fall
The cooler temps and falling leaves of Autumn can usher in special challenges to your health and fitness goals. Tailgate parties, leftover Halloween candy, Thanksgiving dinner and more are all obstacles that can derail our exercise and healthy eating plans. Now’s the time to set goals and plan ahead to make this your healthiest fall yet! Try these three tips for a fabulously fit fall:
Activity and Exercise
Don’t let shorter days decrease your activity and exercise levels. Now’s the time to set some new fitness goals and be diligent about sticking to them. Take advantage of what daylight you can by walking at lunch time when the weather permits. Schedule (and keep) your Curves Workouts in your calendar. Even better, recruit a friend to join you and keep you accountable. Find ways to move more throughout the day like standing while talking on the phone at work or taking the longer route to grab water.
Holiday Temptations
Between football tailgates, leftover Halloween candy and Thanksgiving, this busy season of the year brings with it an abundance of unhealthy options. Here are some helpful tips to beat the party demons. Eat a healthy, sensible meal prior to attending a tailgate party or festive get-together and bring a healthy dish to share. Feeling full when you arrive and having healthy options will help you say no to the unhealthy foods that can be tempting this time of year. Donate extra Halloween candy or bring it into the office to share. Arrive at parties a little late; early arrivals often spend the first several minutes snacking and drinking until more guests arrive. You can avoid filling this awkward time with empty calories by showing up just a few minutes later!
Grocery Shopping
Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you have to stop eating fresh produce. You can take advantage of the best this season has to offer with fall crops like pumpkin, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower. Try root vegetables such as beets, parsnips, turnips and carrots and seasonal fruits like apples, cranberries, grapes and figs.
Planning ahead and making a few easy changes to your routine can help make this season your healthiest fall of all!
